Fiji Airports has strengthened its aviation emergency response capabilities with the addition of three rescue boats designed to assist its Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFFS) team during incidents over or near water.
The new vessels were funded by the Embassy of Japan in Fiji through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), providing essential equipment to support rescue operations and improve emergency preparedness.
The fleet comprises one 7.6-metre vessel and two 4.3-metre boats, giving emergency personnel additional resources to reach people in distress and respond more effectively to water-related aviation emergencies.
The investment marks an important step in enhancing Fiji Airports’ operational readiness and ensuring its rescue teams have the necessary equipment to respond when emergencies occur.
Fiji Airports has acknowledged the Government of Japan for its support in strengthening aviation safety and emergency response capabilities across Fiji.
