Dismissing claims that surfaced on social media, the Fiji Police Force has stated that there were no reports of a stabbing in Albert Park during a performance last night.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Livai Driu reports that no events needing police involvement were recorded during the night or today morning, and that policemen were stationed at the concert venue from early evening until the event completed.

A social media post said there had been a stabbing at the event, which sparked the suspicions. On-site police officers, however, were assigned right away to look into the claim, and they have subsequently confirmed that the information was untrue.

ACP Driu stressed that unsubstantiated allegations on social media can unnecessarily cause panic and concern and advised the public to report any issues immediately to the police for a thorough inquiry.
