New Zealand’s quest for a fourth Rugby World Cup title could face major challenges, with a difficult pool draw and the possibility of meeting some of the world’s strongest teams in the knockout stages.

The All Blacks have been placed in Pool A alongside hosts Australia, setting up a highly anticipated trans-Tasman clash during the pool phase of the 2027 tournament.

With the tournament draw and fixtures confirmed, New Zealand’s campaign will begin against Chile in Perth on October 2, followed by a showdown with Australia in Sydney on October 9.

Their final pool match will be against Hong Kong China in Melbourne on October 15.

The match against Australia is expected to be a key contest, with the Wallabies enjoying home advantage in front of their supporters. The outcome could influence both teams’ positions heading into the expanded knockout stages.

The introduction of a round of 16 means the road to the final will include an additional elimination match.

Depending on the results and knockout draw, New Zealand could also face formidable opponents such as defending champions South Africa and France as the competition progresses.

For the three-time champions, the challenge will be to navigate a demanding schedule and maintain consistency against quality opposition as they pursue another World Cup crown.

The 2027 Rugby World Cup will be hosted by Australia, with the All Blacks aiming to turn their campaign into a historic fourth title.
