The 25th of April would be like any other day; for some, it is an early morning filled with ensuring their uniforms were well fitted and the cold chill of the morning air would be as sombre as the occasion.

In the morning today, the military forces of both Fiji, Australia and New Zealand stood at at the attention for those who had sacrificed themselves as a part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula; even later to honor those who have passed in the line of active duty.

It is also a day of remembrance, a day to reflect on the different meanings of war and to honor the veterans who have stood the test of time.

It is a time to remind ourselves about the devastation of war in order to not repeat the mistakes of the past. In this cold morning where soldiers stood by at the memorial, we remember our past and look to the future.
