Fiji national men’s football team head coach Stéphane Auvray has named a provisional 21-member squad for two international friendlies against Vanuatu during the June FIFA Window in Port Vila.

The matches will provide Auvray with an opportunity to assess players as he continues building the national side for future campaigns leading up to 2029.

Auvray said the main focus of the camp would be evaluating players he has not previously coached since taking charge of the team.

He acknowledged that while he was familiar with several players through Bula FC, the upcoming camp would allow him to work closely with others for the first time and give them a chance to prove themselves at international level.

The coach stressed that Fiji’s national programme remains in a development phase, with long-term progress taking priority over immediate results.

Auvray said the team would use the Vanuatu friendlies to test combinations, formations and player partnerships as they continue establishing the squad’s identity and structure.

He also highlighted the importance of integrating Bula FC players into the national setup, saying their understanding of his coaching style and professionalism would help strengthen the team culture.

The squad will assemble in Ba this Sunday before departing for Vanuatu for the two-match series.

The provisional squad includes experienced striker Roy Krishna alongside several young and emerging players, including 17-year-old Maikah Dau.
