The Leader of Opposition, Voreqe Bainimarama has been referred to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee by the Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.
Ratu Naiqama says this is in relation to a matter of breach of parliamentary privilege which was raised by the Minister for Home Affairs – Pio Tikoduadua.
The Privileges committee will meet later today and report back to parliament regarding Bainimarama on Friday.
Ratu Naiqama had highlighted that this is in relation to Bainimarama’s comments in parliament while he was responding to the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere’s speech.
Lenora Qereqeretabua will chair the meeting with Lynda Tabuya, Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure, Esrom Immanuel, Faiyaz Koya and Jone Usamate.
