The Fijian Drua have appointed experienced New Zealand coach Brad Mooar as the new Head Coach of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Men.

Mooar has signed a two-year contract and will officially begin his role in September 2026 as the team prepares for the 2027 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

The former All Blacks and Scotland assistant coach brings extensive experience from championship-winning campaigns with the Crusaders, as well as his time with Welsh club Scarlets and international rugby.

His appointment follows a global recruitment process, with the selection panel unanimously backing Mooar to guide the Drua into its next phase. The panel was impressed by his coaching experience and vision for developing a distinct Fijian style of rugby built on discipline, consistency and physicality.

Fijian Drua CEO Jeff Miller said Mooar stood out among a strong group of candidates, highlighting his technical knowledge, player development skills and ability to build strong relationships.

Mooar said he was honoured to take on the role and looked forward to helping the Drua build a successful and inspiring brand of rugby while contributing to the growth of the game in Fiji.

He will lead the team into its 2027 Super Rugby Pacific campaign, with further announcements on the men’s coaching staff expected in the coming months.
