Bank of South Pacific (BSP) Fiji has launched BSP eDollar, making it the first bank-backed electronic wallet introduced by a bank in Fiji.
The new digital service is designed to give customers greater convenience, choice and control over how they manage and move their money using their mobile phones.
BSP Fiji Relieving Country Head Maikash Ali said customers can create and manage up to five eWallets through the app, each with its own unique account number and options for domestic or international access and they can also move funds between their BSP accounts and eWallets, transfer money to other BSP customers, and transact across participating banks and mobile wallets.
Ali said the eWallet will reduce the need for customers to visit branches, wait in queues or contact the bank for services that can now be managed directly from their mobile devices.
A key feature is QR payments, which allows customers to generate a unique QR code for each wallet, enabling instant transfers between individuals and payments at participating BSP QR merchants.
He said BSP eDollar is part of the bank’s commitment to expanding digital banking while ensuring customers are not left behind.
The service is aligned with the Reserve Bank of Fiji’s National QR Code Standard, providing customers with greater flexibility to manage their accounts and make payments digitally.
Ali urged customers to remain vigilant and protect their eWallets by avoiding unsolicited requests for personal or account information and immediately contacting BSP if they notice anything suspicious.
The bank said the new service aims to make everyday banking more accessible, convenient and secure for its customers.
