BSP and BSP Life have fulfilled their $100,000 sponsorship commitment to the Fiji Cancer Society, with the support aimed at strengthening cervical cancer screening and contributing to the Government’s National Cervical Cancer Elimination Programme.

A GeneX machine funded through the partnership has now arrived in Fiji, providing the Fiji Cancer Society with improved diagnostic capacity and the ability to conduct testing on-site.

The technology is expected to help deliver faster results, allowing women who need further care to be identified sooner and referred for follow-up treatment.

BSP Relieving Country Head Maikash Ali says the organisation is proud to support an initiative that can provide timely screening and earlier intervention for women across Fiji.

Fiji Cancer Society Chief Executive Officer Belinda Chan says the machine will strengthen the Society’s screening programme and support efforts to take cervical cancer testing closer to women in their communities.

Cervical cancer can be eliminated and is highly treatable when detected early. The partnership between BSP, BSP Life and the Fiji Cancer Society aims to reduce barriers to screening and encourage more women to access early testing and care.
