The Ministry of Local Government received 200 sets of solar street lights donated by the Guangzhou City in China.
The equipment will be distributed to the 13 towns and cities across Fiji to illuminate the way home for people walking or driving at night.
Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa says, the donation is a symbol of hope, adding that the lights will not merely light our towns and cities, but also marks the safety and prosperity of the people.
The donation represents the latest support of China for Fiji, in addressing climate change, following the supplies of solar energies supplies worth of 7 million to light up rural and remote villages.
The total value of the 200 solar sets street lights are around $150,000.
