A delegation from the Cakaudrove Provincial Council visited the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at State House yesterday, where they presented an i-sevusevu as a gesture of respect and support for his presidency.
The council members, led by the President of the Tui Cakau, reaffirmed their solidarity with the Vanua o’ Lalagavesi and the President’s appointment.
In response, President Ratu Naiqama expressed his appreciation for the symbolic gesture, calling it the start of a new journey.
He stressed the importance of unity, urging traditional leaders to align their village and district development plans with government initiatives, particularly in Vanua Levu.
The President highlighted ongoing road projects as key opportunities for local communities, offering better access to essential services, markets, education and healthcare.
He encouraged leaders to explore how infrastructure improvements can benefit various groups, especially women and farmers, while enhancing connectivity to government services.
Ratu Naiqama also highlighted the need for humble leadership, focused on serving communities rather than personal gain and encouraged leaders to enhance mutual respect and collaboration for sustainable development.
