A career that began as a Business Analyst two decades ago has come full circle for Digicel Fiji Chief Executive Officer Farid Mohammed, who has announced he will be leaving the company and relocating overseas with his family.

Mohammed’s departure marks the end of a 20-year career with Digicel Pacific, during which he rose through the ranks to become the first local appointed Chief Executive Officer of Digicel Fiji.

Joining the company on 4 August 2006, he held several senior leadership positions including Business Analyst and Chief Financial Officer before taking on the top role.

Throughout his career, Mohammed contributed to Digicel Pacific’s operations across Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tonga and Samoa.

As CEO over the past six years, he led major technology upgrades, network modernisation and business transformation initiatives that strengthened Digicel Fiji’s operations and prepared the company for future growth.

Under his leadership, Digicel Fiji also expanded its customer base through the successful “All In” campaign.

Mohammed also steered the company through some of the region’s most difficult periods, including the aftermath of Cyclone Winston and the COVID-19 pandemic, helping ensure customers remained connected during times of crisis.

Reflecting on his journey, Mohammed said Digicel Pacific had been his home for the past 20 years.

He says he is deeply grateful to the company’s staff, customers, partners and Board for their trust and support, adding that while he is stepping away from his role, Digicel Pacific will always remain a part of who he is.

Digicel Pacific Regional Hub Markets Chief Executive Officer Steve Long acknowledged Mohammed’s contribution, saying his leadership and commitment had left a lasting impact on Digicel Fiji and the wider Pacific.

Long thanked Mohammed for his exceptional service and wished him and his family every success in the next chapter of their lives.

He will directly oversee Digicel Fiji’s operations until a permanent Chief Executive Officer is appointed.
