Efforts to improve digital connectivity and access to essential services are continuing, with updates on the eTicketing system and telecommunications coverage in underserved areas.
Minister for Policing and Communications Ioane Naivalurua recently met with Vodafone Fiji representatives to discuss progress on initiatives aimed at expanding connectivity across the country.
Further features are being planned for the eTicketing system, while updates were also provided on network services in Taveuni, including projects to improve coverage and access to retail services.
Vodafone confirmed that all sites allocated to the company under Phase One of the Connecting the Unconnected project have been completed.
The company is also looking to expand services to areas with limited or no connectivity, including proposed micro base stations in Udu, Kadavu, Taveuni and the Rewa Delta.
The initiatives are aimed at extending reliable telecommunications services to more rural and maritime communities.
The Government says it will continue working with telecommunications providers to strengthen digital connectivity and ensure more people can access reliable communication and digital services.
