Former Group Chief Executive Officer of an investment company Mohammed Nouzab Fareed has been denied bail pending sentencing after the Suva Magistrates Court found him guilty on two counts of indecent assault.

Fareed was remanded in custody last week after being convicted over incidents involving a junior employee in 2019.

The State argued there were no exceptional circumstances to justify his release before sentencing.

Acting Chief Magistrate Josaia Waqaivolavola says Fareed lost his right and liberty to movement after being convicted.

He adds bail has been displaced.

According to the judgment, the complainant alleged that during separate meetings, Fareed hugged her without consent, sniffed her and made unwanted advances.

Fareed will remain in custody and the matter has been adjourned to next Friday for sentencing hearing.
