The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) has received a donation of digital equipment from the Government of New Zealand to strengthen preparations for the upcoming General Election.

The equipment will support the FEO’s Stakeholder Engagement and Awareness Department and Production Unit by improving voter education, public communication, stakeholder engagement and the production of multimedia content for electoral activities.

Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa thanked the Government and people of New Zealand for their continued support, saying the donation would enhance the office’s ability to deliver professional, accessible and trusted electoral services.

She said the equipment would help the FEO expand community engagement, produce quality voter awareness materials and provide timely and accurate election information as preparations continue.

Mataiciwa added that the contribution reflects the strong partnership between Fiji and New Zealand and will help strengthen public confidence in the country’s electoral process.

New Zealand High Commission Chargé d’Affaires Sam Cox said the equipment would assist the FEO in strengthening stakeholder engagement, voter awareness and public communication. He also acknowledged the work of FEO staff, describing elections as both a democratic process and a major logistical undertaking.

The handover ceremony was attended by representatives of the New Zealand High Commission, members of the Electoral Commission, technical advisers from the New Zealand Electoral Commission and FEO staff.
