Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka met with India’s newly appointed High Commissioner to Fiji, Suneet Mehta, during a courtesy call this afternoon, reinforcing the 55-year diplomatic relationship between the two nations.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in healthcare, renewable energy, IT, skills development, agriculture, and cultural exchanges.
Prime Minister Rabuka thanked the Indian Government for its contributions, including the 100-bed Super Speciality Hospital project, which was announced by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 2023 FIPIC Summit. The hospital is expected to enhance healthcare access in Fiji and the wider Pacific region.
High Commissioner Mehta expressed confidence in the growing Fiji-India partnership, emphasizing India’s continued support for Fiji’s sustainable growth and development.
