The Fiji Cabinet has approved the National Action Plan on the International Decade of Indigenous Language (NAP-IDIL), aimed at reviving, restoring, and preserving the iTaukei language.
To ensure the effective implementation of the strategies outlined in the plan, an Implementation Plan will be developed.
Additionally, a policy framework for the iTaukei Language Commission will be established to support language preservation efforts and long-term cultural sustainability.
This initiative aligns with global efforts to safeguard indigenous languages and underscores Fiji’s commitment to protecting its cultural heritage.
