Fiji has emerged as a potential host for the open swimming competition at the 2027 Pacific Games should organisers face challenges in providing a suitable venue.
Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports, Aliki Bia confirms that Fiji has put forward an offer to host the event, with the final decision resting with the Pacific Games organisers.
He says Fiji stands ready to stage the swimming competition if called upon, highlighting the country’s commitment to supporting the successful delivery of the Games.
“We have already discussed the issue of a swimming venue for the Pacific Games with Fiji Sports Commission Board Member Peter Mazey. Fiji has put forward its willingness to host the swimming competition, but the final decision rests with the Pacific Games organisers. Should they decide to stage the swimming events in Fiji, we are ready and prepared to host that component of the 2027 Pacific Games.”
