The Fiji Muslim League in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank and the Serunai Commerce Organization launched its Digital Halal Ecosystem in Suva.

Through the use of cutting-edge digital technology, this initiative-which falls under the IsDB’s Reverse Linkage modality-will improve Fiji’s Halal certification procedures and bring them into compliance with global standards.

Project Director for the Reverse Linkage Project, Intan Ramly states the project’s primary goal is to increase FML’s capacity by providing the tools it needs to integrate and implement digital modules for managing Halal certification.

“For Serunai Commerce, this initiative goes beyond simply delivering a technical solution. We are deeply committed to empowering local institutions, strengthening capacity, and ensuring that Fiji is equipped to not only manage but also sustain and lead this system for the long term, cementing its role in the global Halal ecosystem.”

National President for the Fiji Muslim League, Haji Basheer Ahmed says that this initiative is a huge step made by the league for the Fijian community.

“This partnership with Serunai Commerce and IsDB represents a remarkable leap forward for our nation. The capacity building and digital systems provided will revolutionize Halal compliance in Fiji, ensuring that Fijian products meet the highest standards expected by consumers worldwide.”

Officiating at the event, Acting Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Filimoni Vosarogo reiterates the governments support for the project, stating its significance for not only the Muslim community but the economy as a whole.

“The Fijian government fully supports this project, and we recognize its significance not only for our Muslim community but also for the economy as Fiji has prided itself on being the melting pot of cultures and faiths, and the Halal industry, has immense potential to benefit all Fijians.

Once fully implemented, the Digital Halal Ecosystem will facilitate real-time Halal verification, strengthen the integrity of the Halal certification process, and improve traceability.
