The Fiji Navy officially marked the operational launch of the Maritime Essentials Service Centre (MESC) and Naval Headquarters with a grand parade this morning.

This event not only celebrated the start of the MESC’s operations but also marked the end of the first quarter of the year, offering a moment to reflect on the progress made.

Commander of the Fiji Navy (CFN) acknowledged the hard work that has been accomplished so far, while challenging the naval personnel to remain dedicated, grounded, and supportive of one another.

He also emphasized the importance of preserving the new facilities and honoring the legacy of those who have served before them.

Fully funded by the Australian Government, the MESC is now home to several critical entities, including the Fiji Hydrographic Services, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, the Maritime Domain Awareness Fusion Cell, the coastal radio station Suva Radio 3 DP, and the Naval Headquarters.

This facility will play a pivotal role in strengthening Fiji’s national maritime security, supporting the country’s blue economy, and enhancing regional maritime safety.

The Fiji Navy expressed its deep gratitude to the Australian Government for their ongoing support in advancing maritime security in the region.
