Fiji Pearls Set for Intensive Training Matches Ahead of World Cup

The Fiji Pearls are gearing up for three days of intense training matches in preparation for
the upcoming World Cup in Cape Town.

The matches, scheduled to commence today on June 13th, will be held at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.


The Fiji Pearls will be joined by their training partners, the Fiji Men’s team, and a New Zealand invitational team consisting mainly of players from the Central Pulse squad.

The training matches will feature four teams in total: two Fiji Pearls teams from the extended squad, the Fiji Men’s team, and the New Zealand invitational team.

Netball Fiji CEO, Vivian Koster, emphasized the importance of these training sessions in preparing the players for the World Cup. “It is crucial for our players to get more game time and exposure before the World Cup,” Koster stated.

“This is our second training series of the year leading up to the tournament, with the first one taking place in March against the Fiji Men’s team.”

The training matches aim to provide valuable experience and playing time for the players, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. Koster further added,

“The idea is to prepare our players thoroughly ahead of the World Cup and give them the best chance to succeed.”

The first match of the training series see the Fiji Pearls Team A going head-to-head against the New Zealand selection at 2:30 PM.

Following that, at 4:25 PM, Fiji Pearls Team B will take on the Fiji Men’s team.

On June 14th, Fiji Pearls Team B will face the New Zealand selection at 4:30 PM, while Team A will take on the Fiji Men’s team at 6:30 PM. The final day of the training matches will
see Fiji Pearls Team A competing against Team B at 2:30 PM, while the Fiji Men’s team
takes on the New Zealand selection at 4:25 PM.
The World Cup in Cape Town is set to commence on July 28th, where the Fiji Pearls aiming
to make Fiji’s mark on the netball world.
