The World Health Assembly is the World Health Organization’s highest decision-making body, bringing together Health Ministers and representatives from all 193 WHO Member States each year in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Assembly determines global health policies, approves WHO’s programme budget, oversees financial policies and appoints the WHO Director-General.
An important part of the Assembly’s work is carried out through the General Committee, which helps guide proceedings and supports the President in managing plenary sessions.
This year, Fiji is represented on the General Committee through participation from the Western Pacific Region, contributing to discussions that help shape the direction and governance of global health policy.
“This year, I am deeply honoured to represent the Western Pacific Region on the General Committee alongside China, contributing to discussions that help shape the direction and governance of global health policy”, Ravunawa said.
