Fiji is gearing up to welcome athletes, officials and supporters from across the Melanesian region after officially signing the hosting agreement for the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup 2026.

The agreement was signed by Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, on behalf of the Government, confirming Fiji as the host nation for the regional tournament, which will be held at the HFC Bank Stadium from 17 September to 3 October.

Speaking following the signing, Minister Saukuru said Fiji was looking forward to hosting participants and visitors from around the region for what promises to be an exciting showcase of Melanesian sport.

“We look forward to welcoming athletes, officials and fans from across Melanesia and beyond to Fiji for this exciting competition,” he said.

This year’s Prime Minister’s Cup will feature football and golf, bringing together competitors from Melanesian countries in a celebration of regional sporting excellence and unity.

Ahead of the tournament, Fiji will also host the 6th MSG Sports Ministers Meeting on 16 September, where Sports Ministers from member countries will gather to discuss key priorities and opportunities for sports development across the region.

Fiji currently holds the chairmanship of the MSG Sports Ministers Meeting and takes over hosting duties for the Prime Minister’s Cup from Papua New Guinea, which staged the event in Port Moresby last year.

The tournament is expected to strengthen regional ties while providing a platform for athletes to compete at a high level and showcase Melanesian sporting talent.
