Fiji made it two wins from two at the OFC U-16 Men’s Championship in Papua New Guinea after a commanding 5-0 victory over Samoa.

After opening their campaign with a win over New Caledonia, Fiji dominated from the outset.

Shahil Prasad broke the deadlock in the 19th minute with a superb solo effort before Ryan Swami doubled the lead from the penalty spot six minutes later after being brought down by Tuionoula Iamafana.

Isoa Baselala made it 3-0 before halftime, finishing from close range after a cross from Rayyaan Mohammed.

Samoa improved after the break with substitutes Malcom J. Lober and Atapana Fatu Fasi introduced, and Te Koha Gabriel Schick came closest to scoring, but his effort drifted wide.

Baselala grabbed his second of the match after being set up by Zaman Shah to extend Fiji’s lead to 4-0.

Swami later missed a chance to add another after good work from Jone Loga.

An own goal by Atapana Fatu Fasi from Jerry Levea’s long ball sealed a 5-0 victory, putting Fiji on the verge of a semi-final spot while Samoa now faces an uphill battle to progress.
