The Fiji women’s hockey team earned their first-ever win at the FIH Hockey 5s World Cup in Oman.
Fiji came from behind and then snuck in a late goal in their 3-2 win against host Oman.
Both sides are making their debuts at an FIH Hockey World Cup event.
The day’s results mean Fiji and Malaysia face each other today with a spot in the quarterfinals up for grabs.
Fiji women’s hockey player Divyankar Kumar, who scored the winning goal against Oman, says it’s a proud moment for her and the team.
Meanwhile, Fiji were beaten 14-1 by the Netherlands in their opening match.
Despite the large score differential, team captain Melba Nautu expressed satisfaction with the team’s effort.
