The Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup will be held in Fiji for the first time since its inception in 2012, with the tournament scheduled for the 25th to the 29th of November at the 4R Electric Stadium, Govind Park in Ba.

Fiji Football Association Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf confirms that two new categories, the Under-16 and Over-50 veterans’ competitions, have been added this year to provide more opportunities for players across different age groups.

The Pacific Community Cup will introduce several changes this year, with all matches played in Fiji and reduced match durations of 60 minutes instead of the usual 90 minutes.

“The beauty of this competition is there is gonna be high intensity matches because it’s going to be only 60 minutes football for all divisions.”

The introduction of an Under-16 division will also provide younger players with an opportunity to showcase their talent and gain valuable competition experience.

“This competition will have a girl’s Under 16 division with four teams and a boy’s Under 16 division also with four teams.”

Eight matches will be played each day across the three divisions, while the Over-50s competition is scheduled to begin on the 27th.

“There will be a total of eight matches per day, 60 minutes football in all the three divisions and we will start off on Friday with the over 50’s competition.”

Meanwhile, the men’s main competition pool draws have been confirmed, with defending champions Rewa drawn in Pool A alongside Labasa, Canada All Stars, AUFFI All Stars and NZZFFI Auckland All Stars.

Pool B will feature Ba, Navua, USA All Stars, AUFFI Australia All Stars and NZFFI Manukau, setting up an exciting contest for a place in the next stage of the competition.
