The Fiji Water Flying Fijians have dropped one place to 10th in the latest World Rugby Men’s Rankings following their 20-15 loss to Japan in the final of the Asahi Pacific Nations Cup in Tokyo.

The defeat saw Fiji overtaken by Japan, with the Brave Blossoms climbing three places to ninth after ending Fiji’s dominance in the tournament.

Japan claimed their first Pacific Nations Cup title since the competition’s revamp, denying Fiji a third consecutive championship after losses in the previous two finals.

While the Flying Fijians remain among the world’s top 10 nations, the ranking drop represents a setback following an otherwise strong campaign that saw them reach a third straight Pacific Nations Cup final.

Head coach Eddie Jones’s side were rewarded for their title-winning performance, while Fiji will now shift focus to upcoming international fixtures as they aim to regain lost ground in the rankings.

Elsewhere, Canada also enjoyed a rankings boost after edging the United States 19-16 in the Pacific Nations Cup third-place playoff.

The Canadians moved up two places to 22nd in the world, their highest ranking since November 2024, while the United States slipped to 15th following their second consecutive defeat to their North American rivals.
