Flying Fijians Squad for Rugby World Cup named

Fiji Water Flying Fijians Head Coach Simon Raiwalui has named his 33 member squad to the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France .

The squad will be captained by Waisea Nayacalevu which has 3 hookers, 6 props, 3 locks, 6 loose forwards, 3 halfbacks, 2 first five-eighths, 4 midfielders, and 7 outside backs.

Peni Ravai, Levani Botia, and Waisea Nayacalevu will be going to their 3rd World Cup tournament.

Seven players will be going to their second tournament, while 23 are going to their first.

A total of 18 Fijian Drua players have made the cut including Jone Koroiduadua and former Drua player Vinaya Habosi, despite not playing in the PNC.

Players who missed the selection are Ben Volavola, Vilimoni Botitu and Kitione Kamikamica.

Simon Raiwalui says the players he has named are highly motivated to play in the World Cup.

Fiji heads to Europe to wind up its preparations for the Rugby World Cup against tournament host France on August 20 in Nantes and England on August 27 at Twickenham.

The Flying Fijians face Wales, Australia, Georgia, and Portugal in Pool C of the World Cup, which kicks off on September 9 in France.
