Four Corrections Officers have been suspended following an incident captured on CCTV and was circulating online regarding an assault at the Lautoka Remand Centre.
The Fiji Corrections Service confirms that a formal investigation was launched to establish the facts and determine the appropriate course of action.
They say the organisation maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of violence.
As part of the Fiji Corrections Service investigations, the Acting Commissioner, Auta Moceisuva says suspending the four officers will allow for a thorough investigation into the recent.
They maintain that suspending personnel is standard procedure when investigating allegations of assault or breaches of internal operational instructions at any Corrections Center nationwide.
