Fiji Roads Authority will hold a public consultation next week on the proposed upgrade of Ratu Sukuna Road in Suva as part of efforts to improve road safety and traffic flow in the capital.
The consultation session will take place on 2 June from 6pm to 8pm at the Draiba Primary School Hall in Nasese and will give residents, stakeholders, and members of the public an opportunity to learn more about the project and provide feedback.
The proposed upgrade aims to reduce road maintenance costs, improve travelling comfort, shorten travel times, and enhance safety for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Planned works include pavement rehabilitation, intersection improvements, installation of kerbs and footpaths, bus bays and parking bays, as well as upgrades to the drainage system.
The project forms part of the Suva Arterial Roads Upgrade Project Stage Two, funded by the Government.
FRA says the consultation will also help meet public engagement requirements under the Environment Management Act 2005, while allowing community members to raise concerns and seek clarification on the proposed works.
