The Electoral Commission of the Republic of Fiji has officially opened the campaign period for the next General Election, effective today, 25 May 2026.
Under Section 109A(1) of the Electoral Act 2014, campaigning will close 48 hours before polling day.
The law also states that the campaign period cannot begin earlier than 30 days before the completion of three years and six months since Parliament first convened following the last General Election.
Fiji is expected to head to the polls between 7 August 2026 and 6 February 2027, while the earliest possible date for the issuance of the Writ of Election is 24 June 2026.
The Electoral Commission is calling on political parties, candidates, supporters, organisations and the public to conduct campaigns peacefully, honestly and within the boundaries of the law.
