Seventeen-year old Abigail Tavuyara feels proud after winning gold in the intermediate girl’s tripple jump event for St Joseph Secondary School.
The Raiwaqa, Nadroga lass jumped a total of 10.36 meters. She says hardwork and sacrifice has helped her to achieve a gold medal today.
“It hasn’t been easy preparing for this event, waking up at 4.30am and training for hours in a day just to try and win gold for my school,” Tavuyara said.
“It was through a lot of hard work, dedication and sacrifice, that enabled me to win gold.
“I thank God, my family, my school and everyone for their support, this medal is also for you all.”
Rosemary Kunabuli of Jasper Williams High School scooped silver with 10.35 meters and Makelesi Robe of Nadi Sangam (SKM) College in third place with 10.08 meters.
