Students from Gospel Primary School’s kindergarten class received a warm welcome at the State House on Friday, 25 April 2025, during their first official visit to meet the President of the Republic of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.
The young students, accompanied by their parents, guardians, and teachers, presented a lively performance of songs and shared their talents with the President in a show of appreciation.
President Lalabalavu expressed his gratitude to the children, their families, and their educators for the visit, emphasising the crucial role teachers play in shaping the future of the nation.
“Early childhood education is the most important stage in a child’s development, where the fundamentals of learning and character are established,” President Lalabalavu said. He praised teachers as “mentors, role models, and builders of dreams,” acknowledging their invaluable contribution to nation-building.
The President also spoke directly to parents and guardians, urging them to maintain strong involvement throughout their children’s educational journey-not just in the early years.
“Your commitment to your children’s well-being is paramount. I encourage you to remain supportive throughout all 12 years of their formal education,” he said. He further stressed the importance of spending quality time with children and ensuring their safety and emotional support.
The visit to the State House served as a memorable experience for the young students and a reminder of the shared responsibility between teachers, parents, and leaders in nurturing the next generation of Fijians.
