More than 350,000 Fijians who depend on bus services daily will not face higher transport costs despite a recent increase in bus fares.
Government has announced it will absorb the full 22.5 percent fare adjustment to ensure passengers continue paying existing rates.
The measure is expected to benefit workers, students, families and communities by keeping public transportation affordable and reducing additional pressure on household expenses.
To fund the initiative, Government will allocate about $2 million each month to offset the increased fare costs.
Officials say the move reflects Government’s ongoing commitment to addressing the cost of living and ensuring essential services remain accessible to all Fijians.
