Charles Laxton Sundar, who is charged with the alleged murder of his grandfather, is challenging the evidence against him through vordire proceedings in the High Court in Suva.

Sundar appeared before Justice Usaia Ratuvili this morning, where the matter was called for an update on disclosures.

The State requested an additional seven days to serve further disclosures on the defence.

Sundar was previously assessed by St Giles Psychiatric Hospital and found fit to stand trial.
He has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge despite allegedly making full admissions.

The defence is now challenging those admissions through vordire.

It is alleged that on 12th of July last year, at Navokadamu Settlement in Lutu, Wainibuka, Sundar used a cane knife to slash his grandfather’s throat, causing serious injuries that later led to his death.

It is further alleged that he then dismembered the body and placed it in a sack.

The matter has been adjourned to the 1st of September.
