The 11 Queen contestants vying for the Miss Hibiscus crown are feeling more confident after completing their first private judging today at the Suva City Council Chambers.

Representing the National Fire Authority, Temalesi Vakalawa said the challenging questions put to them during the session tested their knowledge and understanding of issues affecting society. 

Miss National Fire Authority, Temalesi Vakalawa said the experience has strengthened her confidence and given her an opportunity to speak on issues that matter to Fijians.

For Miss MHCC and Carpenters, the first private judging was a nerve-wracking experience, but she believes the session is an important part of the competition and it has helped prepare the contestants mentally and emotionally for the demanding week of activities ahead.

Twenty-three-year-old Emi Ravela, representing Kaibu Private Island Resort, described her first private judging as an exciting experience as it gave her an opportunity to share her views on issues of national importance and discuss practical ways she believes these challenges can be addressed.

With the Hibiscus Festival now underway, the contestants say they are looking forward to using the platform to advocate for people whose voices are often unheard and they believe the festival provides a unique and engaging avenue to raise awareness on important social issues while connecting with communities.
