World Rugby has officially confirmed the HSBC SVNS Series and World Championship schedule for 2027, with all host cities from the 2026 season returning as the race to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games gathers momentum.

The six-stop HSBC SVNS Series will once again take place in Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, Singapore and New York, before the season culminates with the HSBC SVNS World Championship across Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux.

The announcement follows a successful 2026 campaign that saw New Zealand’s women and South Africa’s men claim the HSBC SVNS Series titles in New York. Australia’s women and South Africa’s men later secured World Championship crowns to cap off another exciting season of international sevens rugby.

World Rugby Sevens World Series General Manager Sam Pinder said the continued growth of the competition highlighted the increasing global appeal of the sport.

“The success of the past season, including record-breaking attendance in Hong Kong and continued growth across our digital and social platforms, demonstrates the increasing visibility and strength of rugby sevens around the world,” Pinder said.

“We are delighted to confirm the return of all our host destinations for the 2027 HSBC SVNS Series and World Championship events, building on the strong foundations established.”

Pinder added that the upcoming season would carry extra significance as teams begin their journey towards Olympic qualification.

“With the race to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games beginning, the 2027 season will carry added significance as the world’s best teams compete for the opportunity to reach the pinnacle tournament.”

HSBC Global Head of Brand Partnerships Andrea de Vincentiis said the company remains committed to supporting the growth of rugby sevens worldwide.

“HSBC has supported rugby sevens for more than two decades, and the Series continues to play an important role in growing the game and reaching new audiences,” she said.

“Its ability to connect teams, fans and host cities around the world is one of its real strengths.”

Fiji will once again be represented on both the men’s and women’s circuits in 2027.

The Fiji Men’s 7s side will compete alongside South Africa, New Zealand, Spain, Australia, Argentina, France and the United States.

The Fijiana 7s team will line up against Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, France, Japan and Spain.

With a full calendar now confirmed, teams can begin preparations for another highly competitive season as they chase valuable ranking points and take the next steps on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
