Twelve police officers linked to the arrest of the late Sakiasi Ose Radravu have been interviewed by investigators from the Criminal Investigations Department as inquiries into the case continue.
According to findings from the investigation, four officers were directly involved in Mr. Radravu’s apprehension. The officers have been instructed to proceed on pending leave before being placed on interdiction at half pay while internal disciplinary proceedings are carried out by the Internal Affairs Department.
Investigators have also established that only one member of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces was involved in the incident, contrary to earlier claims that members of the Joint Task Force had participated.
Meanwhile, authorities are compiling a Death Register investigation file relating to Mr. Radravu’s death. The file will be submitted to the Resident Magistrate with a recommendation that a full inquest be conducted.
Police confirmed that the developments have been communicated to Mr. Radravu’s mother, who is his next of kin. She has also provided a signed statement acknowledging the investigation’s findings.
The Fiji Police Force is encouraging anyone with information relevant to the matter to report it through official channels. Updates on the investigation will be provided only to Mr. Radravu’s mother.
