The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has found there is insufficient evidence to charge 11 police officers over allegations arising from Facebook posts containing screenshots of Viber messages.

The complaint alleged the officers received corrupt benefits or bribes and discussed illicit drug activities.

Following a review of 11 police investigation files referred by the Fiji Police Force, the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions determined there was not enough evidence to institute criminal charges.

The investigation files have been returned to police with recommendations for further inquiries and additional matters to consider.

The ODPP says it will reassess the files if further investigations produce new or sufficient evidence supporting the commission of a criminal offence.
