The judgment for murder accused Apisai Madigibuli has been deferred to the 26th of this month.
Madigibuli appeared before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere in the Suva High Court this morning.
The verdict was initially scheduled to be delivered; however, Justice Tuiqereqere informed the court that the judgment was not yet ready as he was awaiting the court transcript. He also apologised for the delay.
Madigibuli is charged with one count of murder for allegedly killing his pregnant wife, Kitiana Baravilala, during a fatal stabbing incident at a Suva apartment in April 2024.
During the trial, the court heard that Madigibuli admitted to stabbing Baravilala multiple times and intentionally killing their unborn child, claiming he believed the baby had been fathered by another man.
The State called 14 witnesses during the proceedings, while Madigibuli, who represented himself, chose to remain silent in his defence.
