Extra Supermarket Labasa has surged to the top of the Extra Premier League standings after rallying from an early deficit to defeat Coastal Rental Cars/MMM Brothers Nadroga FC 3-1 at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa.

Nadroga made the perfect start when Tuidama Gosai found the back of the net in just the second minute.

However, the Babasiga Lions responded in commanding fashion after the break, producing three unanswered goals to complete the comeback and claim maximum points.

The victory lifts Labasa to 25 points from 12 matches.

The result saw Dayal’s Sawmillers Ba FC relinquish first place after being held to a 1-1 draw by Tagimoucia Nadi FC.

Stratum Rewa also remained firmly in the title hunt with a dominant 4-0 victory over Lautoka.

Despite playing with 10 men for much of the contest, the Delta Tigers secured an emphatic win to climb to 22 points and move into third place, while Lautoka slipped to fourth.

Elsewhere, Nasinu FC strengthened its campaign with a 3-1 win against Tailevu Naitasiri, and Prithvi Navua FC let a two-goal lead slip in a 2-2 draw with Global Care Suva FC.

With just one point separating the league’s top two sides, the battle for the Extra Premier League title remains wide open, setting up a thrilling finish to the season.
