Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru made the comment during the Navosa Youth and Sports Festival, which marked the return of a government-led event to the Navosa highlands after 44 years.
“Prior to this assistance, either recipients had access to this type of training equipment. Students and community athletes, have enthusiasm, determination and natural talent but lack some of the basic resources required for structured strength and conditioning programs. The equipment will support physical education and sporting programs at the Navosa Central College and assist the Navosa Rugby Union in strengthening preparations and conditioning.”
As part of the festival, gym equipment was handed over to Navosa Central College and the Navosa Rugby Union to strengthen training opportunities for young athletes.
The Ministry also provided boxing equipment to newly established boxing clubs, giving aspiring boxers access to the necessary resources to train and develop their skills.
“In the same program, boxing was returned to the highlands after a 44 year absence. The Ministry handed over boxing equipment to the newly established boxing clubs.”
