The Fiji Meteorological Service says the main cloud systems responsible for recent rainfall across the country are gradually moving away from Fiji, bringing an improvement in weather conditions for most areas.

According to the latest satellite imagery, the cloud band that produced overnight rainfall has now shifted over the Lau Group and is continuing eastward towards Tonga.

Another cloud band located west of Fiji is forecast to track southeast, passing south of Kadavu.

Despite the movement of these systems away from the country, residual cloud and moisture associated with the trough that moved through overnight continue to generate cloudy periods and isolated showers in some areas.

As weather conditions improve, heavy rain warnings have begun to be lifted across most parts of Fiji.

However, the Fiji Meteorological Service has advised that a Strong Wind Warning remains in effect for all Fiji waters.

East to northeast winds of 20 to 25 knots are expected to persist, accompanied by rough to very rough sea conditions.

Mariners and coastal communities are being urged to remain cautious and continue monitoring weather updates.
