A 25-year-old man is expected to appear before the Nadi Magistrates Court today, Monday, November 2, 2026, after being charged in connection with an alleged online investment scam.
Police allege the man contacted a woman through Viber between May 12 and 22, 2026, offering her an opportunity to purchase electronic gift cards in exchange for a promised $10,000 to help launch her business.
Believing the offer, the woman reportedly transferred $600 to the accused. However, after failing to receive the promised financial return, she reported the matter to police.
The Fiji Police Force Anti-Scam Taskforce investigated the complaint, resulting in the man being charged with one count of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception.
