A man in his 50s is being held by Police after allegedly making a social media post threatening to remove Fiji’s Constitution or burn the nation’s capital.
The suspect was taken into custody and interviewed by investigators from the Cybercrime Division at the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters on Sunday, 19 July 2026.
He remains in Police custody as inquiries continue.
Police are also reminding the public that posting or sharing content that encourages violence or threatens public safety may result in criminal investigations.
Such actions can be investigated under offences including Urging Political Violence, Criminal Intimidation, Malicious Acts Prejudicial to Public Safety, and Incitement to Violence.
