Authorities have confirmed the death of a man believed to have drowned while attempting to cross the Tiliva River in Bua.
His body was discovered floating in the water on the morning of April 20.
The man, said to be in his 30s, was last seen on April 18 trying to swim across the river.
When he failed to emerge on the opposite bank, search efforts were launched by local authorities and community members.
Tragically, his body was located two days later.
A post-mortem examination has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death, as police continue their investigation.
This incident adds to the growing concerns around water safety, particularly during the rainy season when river conditions can quickly become hazardous.
