A 37-year-old man is in Police custody following a joint operation in Lautoka that led to the discovery of alleged illicit drugs.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said officers from the Joint Task Force, made up of the Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, carried out the raid at the suspect’s home on the afternoon of August 4.

A Police K9 unit was deployed during the search, where officers seized plastic packets containing crystal-like substances along with drug-smoking equipment.

ACP Vusonilawe said laboratory analysis confirmed the seized substances were methamphetamine.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
