Methodist ministers are being urged to take greater control of their finances and free themselves from unnecessary financial burdens.

President of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou highlighted that loans, credit purchases and unnecessary borrowing are becoming a form of bondage for some ministers.

He said financial pressure can affect ministers’ peace of mind, families and emotional wellbeing, while also distracting them from their ministry.

“The loans, credit purchases, unnecessary borrowing that many of our ministers carry. These things slowly become chains around our neck. They compromise our peace of mind, our families, our emotional well-being, and they distract us from the work of God’s Kingdom” Rev. Dr. Turagavou highlighted.

The President is calling on ministers to examine their financial commitments and distinguish between genuine needs and unnecessary spending.

“Let us distinguish between genuine needs and unnecessary ones. Let us learn contentment. Let us plan wisely and free ourselves from unnecessary financial burdens so that we may serve Christ with undivided hearts” he added
