The Sashi Kiran, Fiji’s Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, held a significant meeting today with Loau Donina Va’a, CEO of Samoa’s Ministry for Women, Community and Social Development, and Jonathan Veitch, UNICEF Representative for Pacific Island Countries.
The meeting, held at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, was centered on preparations for the upcoming Pacific Early Childhood Development (ECD) Forum in Samoa, scheduled for May 13–15, 2025.
The discussion underscored critical social challenges impacting children in the Pacific region, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation and effective policy solutions.
Minister Kiran reiterated Fiji’s dedication to enhancing child protection and fostering stronger regional partnerships to ensure safer and healthier futures for children across the Pacific.
Accompanying the Minister were Eseta Nadakuitavuki, Permanent Secretary, and Veremo Muria, Director of Children.
