The Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Vatimi Rayalu, conducted a site visit across the Central Division yesterday to assess agricultural developments and inspect critical coastal infrastructure works.

His visit included stops at farm sites in Nakaikogo and Naqarani, as well as the recently completed seawall at Naivilaca in Rewa. The Minister concluded the day at the Lakena Agriculture Station, where he met with ministry staff.

Minister Rayalu commended the farmers for their ongoing efforts in food production and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting sustainable agriculture. He emphasized the importance of resilience in farming, particularly in vulnerable coastal regions prone to climate-induced risks.

Commenting on the Naivilaca seawall, the Minister described the project as a vital step in protecting agricultural land and surrounding communities from the impacts of sea-level rise and coastal erosion.

At the Lakena Agriculture Station, Minister Rayalu acknowledged the dedication of ministry staff and their role in providing technical support to farmers. He reiterated the government’s broader goals to enhance food security, promote sustainable development, and drive innovation in the agricultural sector.

Minister Rayalu is scheduled to continue his site visits in the Naitasiri Province.
